What day of the week was I born?

Enter a date of birth, yours or someone else's. You'll see the day of the week it fell on, the day of the week of the next birthday, and which birthdays so far fell on that same day.

Date of birth

The year is needed: the day of the week depends on it.

How it's worked out

  • The day of the week comes from the Gregorian calendar, the one in use today, for any date from January 1, 1900 to today. Earlier dates are not accepted.
  • The next birthday is the next time the date comes round, today included, counted on your device's calendar.
  • The birthdays on the same day of the week are counted one year at a time, from the first birthday to the most recent one. The day they were born is not a birthday, so it is not counted.
  • A February 29 birthday is counted on February 28 in years without a February 29, as Greetigo reminders are.

Everything is worked out in your browser. The date you enter is not sent anywhere or saved, unless you save it with the form above.

Frequently asked questions

How is the day of the week worked out?

The page finds which day of the week the date fell on in the Gregorian calendar, the calendar most of the world uses today. Your browser does the counting; the date is not looked up anywhere or sent.

Why does a birthday fall on a different day each year?

A year of 365 days is 52 weeks and 1 day, so a birthday moves one day of the week later each year, or two when a February 29 comes in between. The same day of the week comes back after 5, 6 or 11 years.

Can I look up a date before 1900?

No. The page takes dates from 1900 to today, the same years Greetigo saves dates for. Some countries still used the older Julian calendar in the early 1900s (Russia until 1918, Greece until 1923), so a birth date written down there at the time may need converting first.

Can I get a reminder before the birthday?

Yes. Save the birthday with the form under the answer, and Greetigo emails you the day before, every year, with a message ready. It is free for up to 10 saved dates.
