Best Birthday Reminder Apps in 2026: Free and Paid, Compared

Ten ways to remember birthdays, free and paid, compared on price, where they run and how they remind you, from each app's own pages. Greetigo is our app, so we list it last.

The short answer

The best birthday or date reminder app is the one that reaches you early enough to act, somewhere you'll actually see it. Free options cover most people:

  • Already use Google? Google Calendar shows the birthdays in your Google Contacts, and reminds you a week before and on the day for birthdays you add in its app. Free.
  • On an iPhone? hip has a free plan with reminders on your phone and Apple Watch, and Apple Calendar can show your contacts' birthdays.
  • Want notes and keep-in-touch nudges too? Kinu is free for your first 10 people, on iPhone, Android and the web.
  • Prefer email? MoMinder emails you 7 days before, 3 days before and on the day, free with ads.
  • Want the message ready too? Greetigo (our app) emails you the day before each date with a message ready: a free template with their name, or an AI-written draft on Plus and Premium. It runs in any web browser and as a Mac app, free for up to 10 saved dates. There is no iPhone or Android app and no text message reminders.

The table and the picks below compare ten options. Every fact comes from each app's own pages, checked on October 5, 2026.

  • Best free app on Android: Birday, free and open source.

How we compared

For each app we used only what the company says on its own website, help pages or app store listing, and we checked every fact on October 5, 2026. If an app's own pages don't mention something, we write "Not listed". That is not a claim that the feature is missing. Prices and features change, and some prices differ by country, so check before you choose. The sources are at the end.

Greetigo is our app. We list it last and describe it the same way as the others.

First, decide how you want to be reminded

The biggest difference between these apps isn't the price. It's where the reminder reaches you:

  • A notification on your phone: quick, but easy to swipe away on a busy day. Birday, hip, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders work this way.
  • A text message (SMS): hard to miss, nothing to install. birthdays.app works this way, and Simply Remind Me can send texts for a small fee.
  • An email: stays in your inbox until you deal with it. MoMinder, Simply Remind Me, Birthday Alarm's website and Greetigo work this way.

Then decide whether you want help with what to say. Only some of these apps offer it.
