What the birthday reminder email looks like

  • What arrives: an email to you, with the person's name and the date in the subject, and a message already written: the AI-written draft you saved for that date (Plus and Premium), otherwise a free template with their name. The reminder email itself never writes a new draft.
  • When: in the morning in your time zone, the day before by default. For each date you can choose on the day, or 1, 3, 7 or 14 days before, in any combination.
  • What's free: up to 10 saved dates, each with its reminder emails and a free message template, and 2 messages a month sent from Greetigo (copying is unlimited). Plus ($4.99/mo) and Premium ($9.99/mo) add AI-written drafts; Premium removes the 10-date limit.
  • What you do: click Review and send to see it and email it to them (when you have saved their email), or copy it into a text or your own email. Nothing is sent without your click.
  • Who gets it: only you. The person you're remembering hears nothing from Greetigo unless you click Send.

A reminder email or a calendar alert?

Both work. Here is the honest difference, so you can pick what suits you.

Doing it yourself in a calendar

  • Free, and already on your phone.
  • Your phone's calendar can show the birthdays saved in your contacts, and you can add others as yearly events. In Google Calendar, birthdays you add in its app get a reminder a week before and on the day.
  • Alerts come as notifications on your phone or in the browser (or by email, if you set that up), which are easy to miss on a busy day.
  • It tells you the date; its help pages don't mention help with the words.

A good fit if you have a few dates and act on alerts right away.

A birthday reminder email from Greetigo

  • Free for up to 10 saved dates; Premium for more.
  • Arrives in your inbox in the morning and stays there until you deal with it.
  • Comes with a message already written, ready to send or copy.
  • One list of people and dates. Start by importing a contacts file, a calendar file or a CSV, or by pasting a list.
  • Email only, plus notifications in the Mac app: no SMS and no phone app.

A good fit if you want the words ready and a reminder that waits for you.

Birthday reminder FAQ

What does the birthday reminder email say?
The subject says whose birthday it is and when, like "Maya's birthday is tomorrow". Inside is the date and a message already written: the AI-written draft you saved for that date (Plus and Premium), otherwise a free template with their name. Below it is one button, Review and send (Copy the message when you have not saved her email), and a link to copy it into a text instead.
When does the reminder email arrive?
In the morning in your time zone. By default it comes the day before the birthday; for each date you can choose on the day, or 1, 3, 7 or 14 days before, in any combination. Only you get the reminder: it goes to your account email.
Is Greetigo really free?
Yes. Free covers up to 10 saved dates, with reminder emails, free message templates, manual entry and calendar or contacts file import. Plus and Premium add AI-written drafts, and Premium removes the 10-date limit. SMS reminders are not offered.
Are there other birthday reminder email services?
Yes. Birthdays Reminder (birthdays.email) emails you on the birthday itself and is free. Birthday-Reminders.com is free, with up to 5 reminders per date and ecard and gift suggestions. Simply Remind Me sends free email reminders for any date, and texts or phone calls with paid credits. KisReminder sends a one-time email reminder for free with no sign-up; repeating ones, like a yearly birthday, need its Premium plan. Punchbowl and Postable send free reminder emails alongside their eCards and mailed paper cards. Greetigo emails you before the date with a message already written, free for up to 10 saved dates.
How is this different from a calendar reminder?
Google Calendar shows birthdays from your Google Contacts, and for birthdays you add in its app it reminds you on your phone a week before and on the day. Greetigo emails you on the days you choose (the day before by default), keeps your people and dates in one list, and has free message templates. Plus and Premium add AI-written drafts.
Can I import birthdays from my phone contacts?
Yes, from a file. Save your contacts as a vCard (.vcf) file (iPhone, Mac, iCloud.com, Google Contacts and Android can all save one) and import it on the Dates page. Greetigo doesn't connect to your phone or Google account, so the file is a one-time copy, not an ongoing sync. You can also import a CSV or calendar (.ics) file, paste a list, or add dates by hand.
Does Greetigo send birthday messages for me?
Only when you click Send. The reminder email has a message ready; click Review and send to see exactly what will go out, then Send to email it to them from Greetigo, or copy it into a text or your own email. Nothing goes to anyone on its own.
What makes the AI-written drafts useful?
On Plus and Premium, Greetigo writes a draft from the person's name, the occasion, the style you pick and any notes you add (for example, how you know them). You can write a new one, edit it, and choose the wording that feels right before you send or share it.
Can I get SMS birthday reminders?
No. Greetigo reminds you by email, and with Mac notifications in the Mac app. SMS reminders are not offered.
Is my data private and secure?
Your data is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase), encrypted at rest and in transit. We don't sell your personal information and we don't show ads. See our Privacy Policy for details.
