Six apps people use to remember birthdays and other dates: what each one does, what it costs and who it suits. Greetigo is our app, so we list it last.

How we compared

For each app, we used what the company says on its own website, help pages or app store listing, checked on October 5, 2026. Prices and features change, so check before you choose.

Greetigo is our app. We list it last and describe it the same way as the others.

For ten birthday reminder apps side by side, including free email reminder services, see our comparison of the best birthday reminder apps.

Try Greetigo free with one date

Add one date and see the reminder email you would get. Greetigo emails you the day before, with a message ready. Free for up to 10 saved dates.

Date
  • The day before by default. You can pick the day itself, or 3, 7 or 14 days before.
  • No ads, and we never sell your data.

Google Calendar

Price: Free
Runs on: Web, Android and iPhone
Birthdays: Shows birthdays from your Google Contacts (and, on iPhone and iPad, your Apple Contacts), and you can add birthdays in its apps. For birthdays you add in the app, it reminds you on your phone a week before and on the day. Notifications for other events can also come in the browser or by email.

A good fit if: you already live in Google Calendar and want birthdays next to the rest of your schedule.

Apple Reminders

Price: Comes with Apple devices
Runs on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and iCloud.com
Birthdays: Reminders repeat on the schedule you set, and you can create them with Siri. Apple Calendar can also show birthdays from your Contacts.

A good fit if: you use Apple devices and are happy to set up each reminder yourself.

Birthday Alarm

Price: Free reminders. Premium is $29.99/yr, or $4.99/mo in its iPhone app ($5/mo on its website), and includes all of its cards, message suggestions and no ads.
Runs on: Its website and an iPhone app
Birthdays: Unlimited free reminders, plus a large library of digital greeting cards you can send by email or text.

A good fit if: you like sending digital greeting cards.

Birday

Price: Free and open source, with no ads
Runs on: Android (Google Play and F-Droid)
Birthdays: Tracks birthdays, anniversaries, name days and other events, with a phone notification on the day plus extra ones you choose. It can import from your contacts or calendar.

A good fit if: you use Android and want a free, simple app on your phone.

Todoist

Price: Free plan with 5 personal projects; paid Pro and Business plans
Runs on: Apps for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch and Wear OS
Birthdays: Not a birthday app, but you can type a date in plain language, such as "every year" or "every Monday", and the task repeats.

A good fit if: you already keep everything in Todoist and want birthdays there too.
